Photography is a hot topic with teens. Think about smartphones, Instagram filters and selfies. Teens love taking pictures. Of course, there is also professional photography with old-fashioned cameras that are still considered to be superior. Still, technology has opened up a whole new world when it comes to taking pictures and also making money with photography.
You don’t have to go to college and study the art to make money with your photos. Think about social media, and think about all of these teenagers who are suddenly verified on Twitter and have thousands of followers. They aren’t famous with the exception of being famous online. It’s seriously a big business, and of course it’s not just about Twitter. Remember those Instagram filters!
Teenagers can be freelance photographers as well. You might be thinking about Peter Parker and how he was a freelance photographer for a newspaper. While print photography is still a business, most teenagers would be taking digital photos to try and sell them online. Think about how people keep capturing photos and videos of current events. Teenagers would have to be able to get newsworthy photographs, but hey, it’s definitely an opportunity.
You don’t have to capture photos of a national event. It can be a local or regional event that is newsworthy. What kind of photographs do you like to take? Photographs of nature are some of my favorite, especially since I live on the beach. If you’re not sure about what you want to take, you can take pictures of all kinds to find out.
How about starting a photography blog? You could niche yourself out by taking certain types of photographs. Monetize the blog by placing ads out to the side, and you’ve got yourself a winner. It’s not necessarily as easy as it sounds, but it’s definitely another money making opportunity.
